The Firs is a large bungalow which has been converted for use as self-catering accommodation for groups of up to 16 people. It stands in the grounds of Pendarren House in a delightful location overlooking the Grwyne Valley below the Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons National Park. It is ideal for self-catering groups including families, friends, clubs and organisations.

It is ideally situated for walking clubs, caving clubs and canoeing clubs looking for a smarter equivalent of bunkhouse accommodation in the Brecon Beacons. On the doorstep are some of Britain's longest caves and some of the best white water rivers for canoeing and kayaking.

There are 5 en-suite bedrooms providing a total of 16 beds. There are two twin rooms and three bunk rooms. The en-suite facilities in one of the twin rooms is accessible by wheelchair. A hoist is available if required.

The Firs is DDA compliant with wheelchair access to all except one of the bedrooms is designed to be accessible to wheelchairs. There is a large Lounge and a Kitchen / Dining area. The kitchen is very well equipped and has plenty of storage and food preparation space. The dining area has a large wooden table with seating and space for 16 people. The lounge has comfortable seating for all residents with a television / DVD player. This room opens onto a terrace with a lovely view of the Grwyne valley.
There is a drying room and use of a washing machine and tumble dryer can be arranged for a small additional charge.

The price includes bed linen but you need to bring towels.

ACTIVITIES
Users of The Firs can book any of our activity options or be self-programming. Activities need to be booked in advance of your visit.

If what you want is a relaxing break then The Firs could be just what you are looking for. It is a quiet location with stunning views that aid relaxation; when you are revived and feel like exploring the National Park there are plenty of places to see. Riverside walks, mountains, forests, lakes and reservoirs, quiet village pubs and market towns all within easy reach.

CATERING
The Firs is self-catering so you can bring your food with you or purchase it when you arrive in the area. There are supermarkets in Abergavenny (8 miles) and you can get supplies including local produce in Crickhowell (2 miles). Tesco, Asda and Waitrose will deliver to The Firs.

If you prefer to eat out there are many eating establishments within a few miles of The Firs including The Dragon's Head at the bottom of the drive.

The kitchen is equipped with a large electric cooker with a view to catering for up to 16 people and has all the necessary cutlery, crockery and utensils.
